Day 1 : Ho Chi Minh - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Sa Dec (L, D)
  • Meeting at My Tho Tourist Pier at 11h30. Check-in on board of L’Amant. There will be a short introduction of the crew and the ship, followed by lunch on board. The cruise begins toward Cai Be. Early afternoon board on a sampan boat for a short cruise through the boats that come daily to sell their products: fruits, vegetables, fishes...
  • Then sail through the numerous arroyos and be captivated by the serenity of the Mekong Delta. Visit an ancient colonial house and a rice popcorn factory and taste the local specialties. Return back on board and time is at leisure to enjoy the sundeck or a soothing foot massage (with supplement).
  • Dinner on board and will be followed by the projection of the film “L’Amant” or “Indochine”. Overnight on board
Day 2 : Sa Dec - Cai Be (B, L, D)
  • After breakfast, the boat heads toward Sa Dec. Upon arrival, check-out time before boarding on a local boat to reach Sa Dec city, the old-fashioned town, famous for its flowers and bonsai plants, and where the famous French Writer Marguerite Duras spent her childhood. Stroll through the lively market streets of this fascinating town, toward the tomb of L’Amant (the Lover) and his parents.
  • Visit a Chinese temple and pass-by the school where Margerite’s mother has taught, an opportunity to interact with the students, as well as the house where she used to live with her children. Stop to visit the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le, the “house of the Chinese” described in Marguerite Duras’ novel “L’Amant”.
  • Return on board for to enjoy the buffet lunch. Time to enjoy free foot massage (1hour) or nails treatment by L’Amant Crew.
Day 3 : Cai Be - Ho Chi Minh  (B)
  • The boat heads towards My Tho while breakfast is being served. Upon arrival, it’s time to check-out before getting on a local boat for a cruise along islets and tropical orchards.
  • Cruise through the canal of Xep and reach a small island where a horse-drawn cart will wait for you. Enjoy a tour through the island and discover small villages. Stop en route to taste tropical fruits and visit a bee farm then continue on a rowboat through the narrow, tree-lined canals of the River. Visit handicraft villages, a coconut candy factory before returning on shore.
  • After the visit, head back to Ho Chi Minh City by coach.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Ho Chi Minh City - My Tho - Cai Be (L, D)
  • Meeting point is at 10H30 at the lobby of the Caravelle Hotel. Then, drive through to My Tho - the gateway to the Mekong Delta. On arrival, embark on board L'AMANT and enjoy a lunch and get acquainted with the crew.
  • After lunch, board a river-boat to explore the hidden treasures of the Xep canal and islands with tropical fruit gardens. An exciting ride on a carriage drawn by small horses awaits you for a stroll through the fascinating farming villages. Enjoy the tasty fruits and tea with natural honey.
  • Then continue your journey on a sampan boat through small canals.
  • Welcome dinner and overnight on board of L'AMANT.
Day 2 : Cai Be - Vinh Long - Sa Dec (B,  L, D)
  • After breakfast, board a local sampan boat and sail through the canals to explore Cai Be's vibrant floating market, visit a charming ancient colonial house and handicraft workshop. Return on board of L'Amant for lunch. In the early afternoon, take a small boat for a journey towards An Binh islands, continue the tour by bicycle to visit Tien Chau ancient pagoda, some tropical fruit orchard gardens and witness the everyday life of the Mekong Delta.
  • Continue to visit a traditional house and enjoy some mouth-watering tropical fruits. Anchorage near Sa Dec. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 3 : Sa Dec - Chau Doc (B, L, D)
  • After breakfast, tour Sa Dec, the town where the French Writer, Marguerite Duras spent her childhood. Famous for its flowers and bonsai plants, stop at the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le, the "house of the Chinese" described in Marguerite Duras'novel, L'Amant. Pass-by the school where Margerite's mother has taught and be charmed by the pleasant greetings of the school children. Return on board of L'AMANT for lunch. Sail to Chau Doc.
  • During the afternoon you can enjoy a cooking class or just relax on the sun deck. Anchorage on the way to Chau Doc. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 4 : Chau Doc (B, L, D)
  • In the morning, you will reach the city of Chau Doc, the border city with Cambodia. Visit a floating fishing farm where thousands of fishes are breed for export and visit a mosque in a Cham village. In the afternoon, visit Sam Mountain, a popular pilgrimage site where you will find a large number of Chinese, Cham and Khmer temples.
  • Farewell dinner and overnight on board.
Day 5 : Chau Doc (B)
  • After breakfast, disembark and depart to the Cambodian border by speed boat, go through the customs formalities and continue your cruise to Phnom Penh arriving by early afternoon.

  • After breakfast, check-out time, before boarding on a local boat to explore the Mekong River’s myriad of canals and the home of the famous garden - the image of the region.
  • Then depart on a horse-drawn cart to go inland and visit the small villages. Stop, along the way, at a local home for a tropical fruit tasting and visit a bee farm before returning back on a rowing boat. Visit the craft villages, including a candy coconut factory.
  • The visit ends at around 11h00.
