Day 1 : Ho Chi Minh City - My Tho - Cai Be (D)

  • Morning transfer from Saigon to embark on the RV Mekong Pandaw in time for welcome drinks, a briefing and lunch. Sail across the vast Mekong Delta.
  • Your guide will collect your passports at the meeting point so we can arrange the immigration formalities.

Day 2 : Cai Be - Sa Dec (B, L, D)

  • Sampan boat excursion to Sa Dec via Vinh Long, along canals and backwaters and see the local market and the ancient house of Mr, Huyn Thuy Le, the 'lover' of Marguerite Duras, a famous French novelist whose book was imortalised in the film L’Indochine.

Day 3 : Sa Dec - Chau Doc (B, L, D)

  • Visit a Moslem Cham tribal village and a cat fish farm in Chau Doc with our guide or do your own thing and take off on one of our mountain bikes. The local market is great and the Catholic Church well worth a visit.
  • Return to the ship by boat for lunch and cast off for the Cambodian border for the usual formalities.

Day 4 : Phnom Penh (B)

  • Disembark in Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh, after breakfast.

  • Explorations up Tonle River to a silver making village, Kampong Trolach, and Chong Koh either by ship or by coach depending on water levels. This river is very pretty and there is a vibrant local life to be viewed along the river banks and in lesser craft.

Day 3 : Vietnam Boarder (B, L, D)

  • Sail for the border and formalities and then continue to Tan Chau for the evening.

Day 4 : Chau Doc (B, L, D)

  • Morning either visit a Moslem Cham tribal village and a cat fish farm in Chau Doc with our guide or do your own thing and take off on one of our mountain bikes. The local market is great and the Catholic Church well worth a visit.

  • Transfer from the Saigon port
  • Your guide will collect your passports at the meeting point so we can arrange the immigration formalities
  • The boat helps you to have a fascinating cruise on the Mekong River. It crosses the Delta and the animated Cao Gao Canal in My Tho.
  • In the evening, you have dinner and spend the first night on board

Day 2 : Can Tho floating market (B, L, D)

  • The Cai Rang Floating Market, the largest wholesale floating market in the Mekong Delta, starts around 05:00 and runs until around midday.
  • Not really a place for souvenirs, people come here instead to buy large quantities of goods, mostly foodstuffs, and you will get an idea of what water commerce in the Delta looks like.

Day 3 : Chau Doc - Ba Phnom (B, L, D)

  • Visit a Cham tribal village, a cat fish farm.
  • Return to the ship by boat for lunch and cast off for the Cambodian border for the usual formalities.
  • Travel by coach to Ba Phnom one of the first religious and cultural sites in Cambodia and may be considered a birthplace of the Cambodian nation. 

Day 4 : Phnom Penh - Visit (B, L, D)

  • Passengers will visit Phnom Penh and will be provided with their own private cyclo*. The Cyclo Centre Phnom Penh which provides the cyclos is a charity that provides basic welfare and medical services to cyclo drivers (www.cyclo.org.uk).
  • In the afternoon, optional excursion (by coach) to the Killing Fields and the Khmer Rouge's grim Tuol Sleng or S21 detention centre.
  • This tour is included in the cost of your cruise but must be requested at the time of booking in the comments box.

Day 5 : Upriver & Ashore Cruise (B, L, D )

  • Flexible schedules and a walk to visit a village

Day 6 : Kampong Cham & Inland (B, L, D)

  • Wat Nokor is a modern Theravada Buddhist pagoda squeezed into the walls of an 11th century Mahayana Buddhist shrine of sandstone and laterite. It is a kitsch kind of place and many older building's archways have been incorporated into the new building as shrines for worship. It is a peaceful to wander among the many alcoves and their hidden shrines. There is also a large reclining Buddha.
  • Chlung, walk along the road fronting the river contains a series of French colonial and Chinese style buildings, some in disrepair, others serving as family home

Day 7 : Dolphine River (B, L, D)

  • We will travel by coach and transfer to boat to WWF protected area where we hope to see the rare river dolphins. The river here is rocky and not navigable for larger vessels.
  • In the afternoon, there will be free time to explore the town of Kratie, another remnant of French colonialism.
  • Overnight in Kratie.

Day 8 : Kratie (B, L, D)

  • Visit to Phnom Sabok. Here passengers will visit a variety of small wats, monasteries and pagodas at the top of the hill and experience a wonderful view over the Mekong and surroundings areas.
  • Afternoon continue to cruising downstream.

Day 9 : The Tonle River and  Tonle Lake (B, L, D)

  • Excursion up the Tonle River to Kampong Chhnang either by ship or by coach depending on the water levels.
  • In Kampong Chhnang passengers will take a wonderful motor boat excursion into the lakeside wetlands that form the mouth of the river. Here many fishtraps may be seen.

Day 10 : Battambang & Circus School (B, L, D)

  • Battambang is Cambodia's second most populous city and a popular tourist destination due to the many nearby ancient temples, Buddhist Shrines and the infamous bamboo railway.
  • The highlights of trip is the circus school which is managed by NGOs

Day 11 : Siem Reap (B)

  • Early morning visit The Prek Toal one of the most intact areas of freshwater swamp forest around Tonle Sap Lake. Breakfast on board. Coach transfer to the Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa in Siem Reap. Refreshments will be provided and we will stop at Kampong Thom along the way. Arrive at Siem Reap mid afternoon

  • Morning walk at Angkor Ban and after an all day sail through delightful Cambodian countryside we reach charming French colonial town of Kratie in the evening. No other river ships get this high but thanks to the Mekong Pandaw’s shallow draft we can attempt it.

Day  7 : The Dolphin Group (B, L, D)

  • From Kratie we go further upstream using a local bus to view the dolphin grounds in a national park protected area. In the afternoon on our return downstream we stop at a curious shrine known as the Monkey Temple on the way to moor overnight near Kampong Cham.

Day 8 : Tonle Sap - Siem Reap (B)

  • Early morning coach transfer to Siem Reap. Refreshments will be provided and we will stop at Kampong Thom along the way. Arrive at Siem Reap mid-afternoon.

  • Visit of Phnom Sabok. You will be lucky to discover many temples, monasteries and pagodas.
  • Arriving at the hill, you will be very surprised by a beautiful view. At its summit, you see all the magnificent scenes of the Mekong and its surroundings

Day  7 : Upriver & Ashore Cruise (B,L, D)

Day 8 : Phnom Penh - Discovery (B, L, D)

  • Make a tour of the official capital Phnom Penh in a rickshaw
  • In the afternoon there will be an optional guided tour of Death Field and Genocide Museum Toul Sleng or S-21 - the best known of the 190 prisons that the Khmer Rouge political police (Healthbal) Scattered throughout Cambodia during the 1970s. Located in the capital, Phnom Penh, and headed by Kang Kek Ieu, alias "Douch", it depends directly on the top leaders of the regime. Day 9 : Border crossing & Chau Doc (B, L, D)

  • Visit a Cham tribal village, a cat fish farm, and enjoy a trishaw ride round Chau Doc

Day 10 : Cai Be - Sa Dec (B, L, D)

  • After breakfast, rowing boats welcome you in order to facilitate your visit of Cai Be: the French Gothic cathedral, colonial buildings, flower gardens, etc.
  • Then meet a manufacturer to better understand how the rice paper is made.
  • Back on board for lunch and cruise to Sa Dec.
  • There are a few places to visit: Kien An Cung pagoda, Sa Dec market, etc.
  • Sa Dec is a very old and renowned town of rice popcorn
  • Enjoy local specialties, transfer to local boats to visit the old house of Huynh Thuy Le.
  • Visited the school for which Marguerite's mother worked as a teacher and the house where she lived with her children. On the way back, you stroll the streets of the bustling market of this fascinating city.

Dining Room & Bar

  • The Pandaw dining rooms are designed to open up along the sides and only at night do we close them up and use air conditioning. We know our passengers want fresh air not chilled air. We offer a great choice of local cuisine and exotic foods. We source supplies as locally as possible, given environmental health regulations. Breakfast and lunch are buffets and dinner is served at the tables. Passengers who do not like hot or spicy foods are offered European alternatives and vegetarians are well catered for. Our chefs know that the majority of passengers want to eat the best of each country they pass through.
